An independent guide for NGOs. We are not NITI Aayog and not the official NGO Darpan portal.
Register on Darpan: the steps

How we write

Each guide answers questions that NGO founders and staff actually search for, such as how to register on NGO Darpan or what a section 8 company is.

Sources first

We start from official material: the NGO Darpan portal and NITI Aayog pages, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Income Tax Department, the FCRA portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the text of the relevant acts, and press releases from the Press Information Bureau. Each page lists the sources used.

Writing tools and human review

AI writing tools help us prepare first drafts and keep the language simple. A person then checks each draft against the official sources. Anything that could not be confirmed is removed or clearly marked as something to check.

What we leave out

Fee amounts, deadlines and other figures that change with each notice are not printed as fact. We explain what they depend on and where the official figure is published.

Updates

Portals and rules change. Each page shows when it was last checked, and we update guides when an official change or a reader’s report shows something is out of date.
