Your checklist
0 of 6 donePeople search for Darpan certificate download when a funder, bank or grant portal asks for "proof of NGO Darpan registration". The honest answer first: official NITI Aayog and ministry documents talk about a system generated Unique ID, not a separate signed certificate. What you download or print is the page on the official portal that shows your NGO's Darpan ID and details. This is an independent guide, not the official portal, and it is not part of NITI Aayog.
What is the NGO Darpan certificate
When someone says "NGO Darpan certificate", "Darpan registration certificate" or "NITI Aayog certificate", or simply "NGO certificate", they almost always mean proof that your organisation is listed on NGO Darpan and has a Unique ID. Government documents we checked, including NITI Aayog's own page and Parliament answers, describe the output of Darpan as the Darpan ID. We found no official notice that describes a separate certificate with a seal or signature.
So treat any "NGO Darpan certificate format", "sample" or "word format" you see online with care. Do not make your own certificate in Word and call it a NITI Aayog certificate. Funders check the ID on the portal, and a made-up document can lose you the partnership.
Also note the difference from your registration certificate (RC). The RC comes from the sub-registrar, Registrar of Societies or Registrar of Companies when your NGO is formed. You upload that RC into Darpan. Darpan does not replace it. If you are looking for that paper, see trust registration or society registration.
Before you can download anything
- Your NGO must have finished Darpan registration and the profile must show 100%.
- The Darpan administrator must have verified it, and you must have generated the Unique ID after the email.
- You need your login: the organisation PAN, registered mobile or registered email, plus the password.
If the ID is not generated yet, there is nothing to download. Check registration problems first.
How to download Darpan certificate or ID page
The exact menu names on the newer portal may differ from older guides. That is why the steps on this page describe what to look for rather than one button name. In short: log in, open your organisation profile, find the page that shows the Unique ID with your NGO name and registration details, and save it as a PDF.
This is what most funders mean by an NGO Darpan certificate download. The same steps cover an NGO Darpan registration certificate download, a NITI Aayog certificate download and an NGO certificate download for Darpan. Searches for a NITI Aayog certificate format or an NGO Darpan certificate download PDF all lead back to this one profile page.
If the portal shows a download or print option on that page, use it. If it does not, use your browser's print option and choose "Save as PDF". On a phone, the share or print menu of the browser usually has the same option. Both give you a clean PDF to keep and share.
Can I print my NGO Darpan registration? Yes. Print the same page on A4 paper. Keep one copy in your NGO file with the RC, PAN, 12A and 80G papers.
Using it as proof
| Who asks | What they usually want | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Ministry grant portal | The Darpan ID typed into the form | The portal checks it online. A PDF is often not needed. |
| Bank KYC | Darpan ID, sometimes with a printout | Banks must collect it from non-profit clients. Carry the printed ID page. |
| CSR partner company | Darpan ID with PDF, plus CSR-1, 12A and 80G | Send all in one folder. See CSR funding. |
| FCRA or 80G application | Darpan ID in the online form | See FCRA and 12A and 80G. |
| Donor or volunteer | Proof the NGO is listed | Share the ID so they can check it on the public directory. |
The strongest proof is not the PDF. It is the ID itself, because anyone can look it up on the official directory. Show people how in our NGO Darpan search guide.
Darpan certificate for trust and section 8 company
There is no separate version by type. A trust, a society and a section 8 company all get the same kind of Darpan ID and the same profile page. The page shows the Act name and registration details you entered, so check they match your RC before you print it.
Problems with Darpan certificate download
- Cannot log in: reset the password using the forgot password option. See NGO Darpan login.
- No ID on the profile: verification is pending or the ID was not generated after the email. Log in and look for the generate option.
- Wrong details on the printout: edit the profile, save, and print again. Old printouts with wrong data should be thrown away.
- PDF is blank or cut: change the print layout to portrait, scale to fit, or try a computer instead of a phone.
- Someone sells a "Darpan certificate": do not pay. The ID and profile are on the official portal and cost nothing.

Common questions
Official documents we checked describe a system generated Unique ID, not a signed certificate. What NGOs share as a Darpan certificate is a print or PDF of the portal page showing the ID. If the portal offers a print option, use it.
Log in on ngodarpan.gov.in, open your organisation profile showing the Unique ID, and save it as a PDF using the page's option or your browser's print menu. Check the details before you share it.
You cannot until the ID exists. Complete the profile to 100%, wait for the verification email, then log in and generate the ID. After that, save the page.
We found no official format published by NITI Aayog. Do not create your own certificate in Word. Share the Darpan ID so the other party can check it on the official directory.
No. The registration certificate comes from the office that registered your trust, society or company. Darpan only lists that organisation and gives it an ID.
Yes. They can search your NGO on the public directory of the official portal and match the ID and details. That check matters more than any printout.
