About Darpan Portal Guide
Starting an NGO in India means meeting several government systems one after another: a registrar for the trust, society or company, the income tax portal for 12A and 80G, the NGO Darpan portal of NITI Aayog for a Unique ID, the corporate affairs portal for CSR-1, and sometimes the FCRA portal. Each system explains its own forms. Very few explain how they fit together. Darpan Portal Guide was started to do that, in plain words, for small NGOs and first-time founders.
What we cover
- NGO Darpan: registration, the Unique ID, login, search, the confirmation and fixes for common errors.
- Registering an NGO: trust, society and section 8 company, and how to choose between them.
- Tax and foreign funds: 12A and 80G under the current income tax law, and FCRA.
- Funding: CSR-1, how CSR funding works, and the grant portal of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
How we work
Every guide is checked against official portals, acts, rules and notices, which are listed at the end of the page. When something could not be confirmed from an official source we say so. Read how we write and our fact-checking policy.
What we are not
We are not NITI Aayog, a ministry, a registrar or a consultant. We do not register NGOs, file forms or charge fees, and we will never ask for a password, OTP or digital signature. Official work is done only on the official portals or at the official offices.
